“What would the world be like if we could see through the eyes of another?” How do new vision technologies affect and enhance our body perception? Is virtual reality a tool that will help us connect more on a physical level, or are we growing even more distant through the shield of 360° mediation?

In this workshop by the interdisciplinary collective BeAnotherLab, participants will be able to engage with “The Machine To Be Another”, a technology developed by the group to explore immersive experiences of the body. The workshop will address scientific, technological, aesthetic and social aspects of the collective’s interdisciplinary research around embodiment and identity. After an introduction into the methods and tools of their system, participants will be able to see, touch and interact with the world from the perspective of another person. The workshop explores the implications behind posthuman phenomenologies and new physical experiences of the body augmented by the machine.

The workshop took place on Wednesday, 22 February 2017, 2–6 p.m. at Fotomuseum Winterthur and on Thursday, 23 February 2017, 3–7 p.m. at Media Lab of the School for Applied Sciences and Art in Lucerne.
