Redevelopment Project

Reopening after Refurbishment

We are realising our vision of a museum of the future and are celebrating the grand reopening of Fotomuseum Winterthur on 17 May 2025! Following the comprehensive redevelopment of the museum, we are opening the doors to our new premises and the inaugural exhibition. Fotomuseum Winterthur will remain closed until May 2025. However, we are offering a variety of events, workshops and digital encounters as well as numerous educational programmes – in the photo lab or in the area of image and media competence. Fotostiftung Schweiz is open regularly.

Lucia Moholy – Exposures

08.02.–13.07.2025

The exhibition Lucia Moholy – Exposures is the first to show the broad scope of the work of Lucia Moholy (1894–1989). Moholy was not just a photographer, but also an art historian, critic, writer and archivist; she described herself as a ‘documentalist’ and made a name for herself in the field of information science. Her photographic oeuvre, which spans from the 1910s to the 1970s, is presented alongside numerous documents, some of them newly discovered.

Fotobibliothek in der Passage

Lucia Moholy – Exposures

08.02.–13.07.2025

As part of the exhibition Lucia Moholy – Exposures, Lucia Moholy’s dedication to microfilm technology is explored in greater detail in the passage leading to the photo library.
