Workshop: Out of Stock – Understanding, Examining and Questioning AI Images
In the workshop Out of Stock – Understanding, Examining and Questioning AI Images, we discuss the opportunities and dangers of AI-generated images. Together, we analyse how and which images are used as training data for AI and why this can lead to the reproduction of stereotypes, clichés and dangerous narratives. In the process, we learn about the visual characteristics of AI images and shed light on their increasingly widespread use.
We will explore the mechanisms behind this technology in creative tasks and experiment with strategies developed by artists and net activists to critically reflect on and challenge these mechanisms.
