“Walk On,” the title of his solo exhibition at Fotomuseum Winterthur in 2002, expresses in two succinct words the aesthetic approach used by Claudio Moser to sound out the present, both in his explorations of his native country and in his travels to distant places. His large-format images make auratic reference to opulent paintings, while simultaneously drawing on the vision of film. Focus, lack of focus, and the dense enmeshment of background and foreground are implemented in an equally simple and precise manner in Moser’s photographic explorations.
