In a manner both spirited and passionate, Maya Rochat captures the psychological and physical depths of young adults in her work Es stinkt der Mensch solang er lebt. Sharp contrasts combine with soft facial features; artificial lighting exaggerates a young woman’s strangely absent presence. With an emphatic eye, Rochat explores a young man’s pimpled back, while skid marks on asphalt remain as a testament to overconfidence. Words formed out of hair ask, “Are you an animal too?”
