The cluster Play (SITUATION #32 to #38) looks at play practices and platforms that have emerged in recent years in the digital realm. They include LAN parties and online video chats, as well as modes of photographic play embedded in video games. New forms of social online interaction, artistic modifications and the gamification of photography have generated post-photographic phenomena that significantly reshape the rules of the game, shifting the boundaries between reality and fiction. How are the parameters of game/play altered by today’s screen culture, and how does this challenge the agency of the players?
