SITUATION #145

Konzepte und Methoden aus den interdisziplinären Feldern der Medienwissenschaft und der visuellen und digitalen Kultur bieten spannende Ansätze für das Verständnis zeitgenössischer fotografischer Praktiken. Gleichzeitig ermöglichen sie uns, die tradierten Theorien und Geschichten fotografischer Medien zu überdenken, die aufgrund ihres medienspezifischen Ansatzes oft in einer Sackgasse münden. Konzepte wie Jonathan Bellers „programmierbares Bild“, Jodi Deans „Bilder ohne Betrachter_innen“ oder Hito Steyerls „armes Bild“ – einige davon im Blog Still Searching... des Fotomuseums publiziert – können uns helfen, durch die Netzwerke und Knotenpunkte der Fotografie des 21. Jahrhunderts zu navigieren und ihrer umfassenden technologischen, sozialen, kulturellen und politischen Komplexität angemessen zu begegnen.
