Ideas about the Contemporary Role of Photography within Digital Culture and Artistic Practice
From mid-March till the end of April, Melanie Bühler’s blog series will address a number of ideas about the contemporary role of photography within digital culture and artistic practice. She will also examine the role of digital photography within the context of photography as both an artistic medium and a specialized discipline and explore how networked photographic practices are reflected in the work of contemporary artists.
Melanie Bühler
Melanie Bühler lives and works in Amsterdam as a freelance curator. She is the founder and director of Lunch Bytes (lunch-bytes.com) – a project on art and digital culture including talks, discussions and an online platform for which she collaborated with institutions such as Art Basel; CCA, Glasgow; ICA, London; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC among others. As a curator, her most recent exhibitions include Surface Poetry at Boetzelaer/Nispen Amsterdam (2014) as well as BRANDS -CONCEPT/AFFECT/MODULARITY at S.A.L.T.S. Project Space, Basel (2014). Her writings appeared in the exhibition catalogue Megarave Metarave (les presses du réel/Kunsthaus Langenthal/WallRiss 2014), Unseen Magazine (Foam 2014) and Run Computer, Run (Link Editions/CRUMB 2014).
