Helena Påls

Helena Påls’ images are like photographic traces of a crime that never happened. Using a combination of crime scene photography and the documentary, and working thematically while always on the brink of existentialism, she examined objects and persons from her hometowns Dalarna and Stockholm from 2000 to 2005. She summarized her findings in the book för att/because, which presents a series of dark, often blurred images that confront the paradox of the body: its place in space and how it is individually perceived, which often do not coincide.

b. 1974 (Djurås, SE), lives and works in Stockholm, SE
