Artist Talk: Christof Nüssli and Astrid Näff«SITUATIONS/Flesh»

SITUATION #65 Christof Nssli, Withheld Due To, 2016 (30043)

In his recently published artist book Withheld Due To: (SITUATION #65), the Zurich-based artist Christof Nüssli works with a collection of photographs from the torture perpetrated in Abu Ghraib and the war against terror. The images were kept classified by the US government for years and only released to the public in excerpted form in February 2016, after years of effort on the part of the American Civil Liberties Union.

In a conversation with art historian Astrid Näff, Christof Nüssli will reflect on his approach towards the material and the questions they raise about the censorship of images and to what extent torture and violence can be represented.

The talk will be followed by a short guided tour through the exhibition SITUATIONS/Flesh. Both will take place in German.
