Color Film Series at Kino Cameo: «West Side Story»

This autumn Kino Cameo dedicates a film series to color film. In October and November, four film classics will be shown, presenting Technicolor's wonderful world of color nuances. The screening of Victor Fleming's legendary «Gone with the Wind» (USA 1939) – the opening event on 25.10.2019 – is hosted in cooperation with Fotomuseum Winterthur and The Short Film Festival of Switzerland.

About the film «West Side Story»: Tony and Maria belong to two rival youth gangs – their love, however, in Sheakespearean manner, is neither accepted by the white «Jets» nor by the Puerto Rican «Sharks». While the actors express their emotions to Leonard Bernstein's music in songs like «Maria» and «Tonight», they dance through the cardboard backdrops of Manhattan in dynamically filmed ballet fights. A Hollywood musical at its best.
