Andreas Gursky is considered one of the greatest contemporary image-makers in the medium of photography. He pushes the envelope, preferring constructionor abstraction in terms of the image and in terms of the content to search for the universal, for signs and symbols. He explores the specific contemporary moment – in shopping malls, industrial plants, bank vaults, pop concerts, or Formula-1 race tracks – searching for recurring signs of the rules and structures of coexistence, production and world order.
