Loan Nguyen’s photographs differ in many ways from the other works presented here, particularly in the way that they exude an air of contemplative calm. There is nothing hectic or busy about them. Her images appear empty, cleansed and laconic, their colours and contrasts muted. The series Mobile plays on the fragile balance of opposites: heaven and earth, proximity and distance, landscape and people, nature and culture.
