b. 1956 (Lausanne, CH), lives and works in London, UK
Olivier Richon, who is currently head the department of photography at the Royal College of Art in London, uses photography to explore the boundaries between the real and the illusory in the visual world. His photographs address the “desire for the exotic, the pleasures of imitation, the function of the object in the still life and the quotation and appropriation of art history”. His book Real Allegories (Steidl) is a twenty-year retrospective of his work.
