Artist Talk and Book Launch

Accompanying the exhibition Shadow Creatures – From Spirit Photography to the Ghosts of the Algorithm, participating artists will discuss their works and artistic practices during a joint guided tour. The event will be moderated by the curators Marco De Mutiis and Rea Grünenfelder.
Shadow Creatures traces a path from nineteenth-century spirit photography to the algorithmic phantoms of the present, showing how images conjure beings that inhabit our personal, social and political subconscious.
The artists Nina Davies, Mario Santamaría, Janne Schimmel, Steph Maj Swanson, Shannon Taggart, Agate Tūna and Sheung Yiu will be present during the tour. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into the background and context of the works on view. An accompanying publication, published as the second edition of the research project , will also be presented on this occasion.
The exhibition is co-produced with Kutxa Fundazioa and will be presented in San Sebastián in 2027.
