Fully booked: Workshop: Zines – copy, combine, publish
Under what conditions are images and information produced and circulated today? What can a seemingly ‘obsolete’ medium such as the photocopier reveal about contemporary media practices?
These questions are explored through the example of self-published zines. The workshop takes a critical look at image production, at modes of visibility and circulation, and at the socio-political contexts of zines.
The practical part focuses on the creation of individual pages for a collective zine. Participants will copy, quote, comment on or develop photographs, texts or drawings, which are brought together in a collaborative process and shared if desired.
A workshop for anyone interested in experimenting with visual and textual forms while developing new perspectives on contemporary media culture.
The workshop takes place in the context of the exhibition Paul Mpagi Sepuya – Focus. Desire. and is organised in collaboration with Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).
