Exhibition - Despite Temporary Closure
Fotomuseum Winterthur is realising its vision of a museum of the future: due to urgently needed renovation work, the institution is planning a new building and redevelopment project. The renovation phase will last from June 2023 to spring 2025, during which time the exhibition spaces at Grüzenstrasse 44 will remain closed. From February to May 2024, the museum will be showing the exhibition A Show of Affection – Collection Constellation 1 in the spaces of Fotostiftung Schweiz.
Jakob Tuggener – The 4 Seasons
Jakob Tuggener (1904–1988) was especially captivated by one subject: simple life in the countryside. His countless sensitively observed, atmospherically charged, but never picturesque depictions of everyday farming life reflect the cycle of nature, while simultaneously contemplating life and its transience. The exhibition presents book maquettes and photographs, which demonstrate how intensively he devoted himself to the theme of country life for more than 30 years.
In Print – Jakob Tuggener and the Illustrated Press
To accompany the exhibition Jakob Tuggener – The 4 Seasons, Fotostiftung Schweiz is presenting a selection of works that Jakob Tuggener published in little-known magazines typical of his era, such as Föhn and Der Gleichrichter. These are impressive photo reports on hitherto little-noticed facets of everyday life in the city or about life in the countryside.
