Abigail Solomon-Godeau
Starting on April 15, 2014, the American art critic and professor emerita Abigail Solomon-Godeau, will reflect on a selection of the exhibitions (i.e., the particular) viewed in the past couple of weeks and try to distill, or extract, something that might count as some valid generalities about photographic practice and photographic discourse in their current manifestations.
Abigail Solomon-Godeau
Abigail Solomon-Godeau, Professor Emerita in art history, University of California, lives and works in Paris. She is the author of Photography at the Dock: Essays on Photographic Histories, Institutions, and Practices (1991), Male Trouble: A Crisis in Representation (1997) and Rosemary Laing (2010). Her essays on photography, art history, contemporary art and feminism are widely anthologized. She is currently working on two books, The Face of Difference: Gender and Genre in Photography and Art Photography in the Age of Catastrophe.
