Sara Kontar, "I don't have many photos here, this album is empty. When I left Syria, I had an album for each of my children. I took the photos out and threw away the albums when we left. I looked for my old photos among the pictures, searched and searched but couldn't find them. I had thrown out my album thinking it was empty. I regret that I no longer have memories of myself from before, they were the most important and beautiful photos.", 2023, aus der Serie Therefore, I Cut. © Sara Kontar
Sara Kontar, "Cutting hair is often related to loss, it’s a part of your body that you choose to remove. At first, I refused to let anyone touch my hair, I didn’t want to cut it before I went back to Syria. I kept saying no. I thought I would go back soon, but after four years, my hair had grown too long, so my sister cut it.”, 2023, aus der Serie Therefore, I Cut. © Sara Kontar
