A Show of Affection – Collection Constellation 1

A collection show with a difference: Fotomuseum Winterthur is examining its own collection. Drawing on a selection of works, the exhibition delves into various themes and issues – from the collection’s focal points and the factors that influence its ongoing development to the gaps and absences that are revealed in it.

New Co-President: Madeleine Schuppli

At its last meeting, the Board of Trustees of Fotomuseum Winterthur elected Madeleine Schuppli as its new co-president. The Zurich native works as a freelance curator, author and lecturer and will chair the board alongside current president Monica Glisenti, effective immediately.

Redevelopment Project

Groundbreaking Ceremony

The official groundbreaking ceremony on 17 July 2023 marks the beginning of Fotomuseum Winterthur’s new building and renovation project. The project will remedy structural deficiencies relating to climate control, security and fire protection, while at the same time creating space in which to present contemporary photography and new, experimental exhibition and event formats.

[permanent beta]

[permanent beta] is an online platform and research lab focused on algorithmic and networked image cultures. Contributions by artists, curators and theorists give users an insight into a specific subject matter. Running under the title The Lure of the Image, the first edition of [permanent beta] is dedicated to the affective and seductive power of the image.
