Walter Pfeiffer charmingly woos his male and female models, creating a familiar atmosphere that yields photographs full of intimacy and longing—and which are somehow enchanting. Trained as a window display designer, Pfeiffer turned to freelance photography in the 1970s and 80s. The series “Carlo Joh.”, shown in the exhibition Transformer at Kunstmuseum Luzern (1974) was an early success. With his retrospective In Love With Beauty at Fotomuseum Winterthur (2008) his work was once again discovered by a large audience.
