MSHR’s works attempt to expand our sensory experience and play with our relationship with space, light and sound. Combining VR technology, spatial and generative soundscapes, as well as physical elements, the artistic duo creates immersive and labyrinthine environments. In Source Fold Compound Generator viewers lose themselves navigating a maze of photographic textures while simultaneously affecting the sonic outcome of the piece. Tapestries on the walls and floor represent flow charts that act as graphic scores for the various iterations of the generative musical system playing in the room, adding another layer of a unique and mesmerising media environment.

MSHR is a duo consisting of Brenna Murphy and Birch Cooper. Brenna Murphy was the winner of Fotomuseum Winterthur’s P3 prize 2016, supported by the Julius Bär Foundation.
