«The Hobbyist» Workshop: Do-It-Yourself with Flo Kaufmann

Far from digital streams, mp3s and CDs, there is an exciting world of analogue technologies. Sounds and music can also be recorded and played back with the simplest of means. Using discarded equipment, speakers and needles, you can mechanically carve sound waves into plastic foil, paint and wax. Build the technical setup and let your creativity run free when recording. Follow the footsteps of sound recording pioneers such as Thomas Alva Edison and record your own record! Become a sound engineer!

The workshop is given by Flo Kaufmann (born 1973 in Solothurn). He is one of the great creative craftsmen and sound artists in Switzerland and is particularly interested in the magical and irrational moments of technology. His passion is "technological flotsam", which he finds at flea markets and in the trash. He rebuilds the discarded apparatuses and fills them with completely new functions and new life. He is also one of the world's most sought-after record experts. As "Lord of the Groove" he has already operated his own vinyl pressing plant. In his workshops, the cross-over talent guides all participants to creative thinking and acting.

We offer this workshop twice on the same day:
