Screen Walk with Kristoffer Tjalve

For the first Screen Walk of 2024, Kristoffer Tjalve will lead a behind-the-scenes tour of Diagram.website, a portal with hundreds of links to the internet flourishing outside social media platforms. He will talk about the research and development behind the diagram and reflect on mapping as a practice for registering, discovering and making sense of the internet.
During the event, Tjalve will perform website readings and host impromptu conversations with HTML poets, as well as show mapping tools and update the diagram with contributions from the audience.
In Screen Walks, a series of live-streamed explorations of digital spaces, selected artists and researchers investigate artistic strategies taking place online. The project gives an insight into practices using the screen as a medium. From re-contextualising pictures found on online marketplaces and uncovering data brokers’ invisible circulation of images to analysing in-game photography and the social, political and economic implications of games – Screen Walks examines various approaches, offers a behind-the-scenes look at artists’ work and uncovers new, current and forgotten digital spaces. Screen Walks is a collaboration between The Photographers’ Gallery in London and Fotomuseum Winterthur.

Kristoffer Tjalve works to expand what the internet is and can be. He is the author of Naive Weekly, hosts Naive Yearly and maintains Tiny Awards and other internet surreal estates.
