Power, powerlessness, control, repression. In her many and varied media, in videos and installations, Ann-Sofi Sidén explores the phenomena that lie beneath the surface of society. Her method may take the form of interviews about prostitution on the Czech border or, as in Codex, an inquiry into historic practices of torturing women, so-called witches, in centuries past. In her exhibitions and publications, Sidén gives her protagonists and their stories a safe haven and, with that, increased attention.
